Alarelin peptide

The alarelin peptide is one of the most recent discoveries in the context of reproductive action. It is a synthetic analogue of the natural hormone GnRH, which plays a key role in the regulation of the menstrual cycle and fertility in both women and men. In sports supplementation, it can be a useful tool in rebalancing the workings of the endocrine system, or what is known as a ‘rebound’.

alarelin peptide

What is alarelin peptide?

Alarelin peptide is a synthetic analogue of a hormone secreted by the hypothalamus, which plays a key role in regulating the reproductive cycle. Its main use is to support processes related to reproduction, the proper functioning of hormones. Furthermore, peptides such as alarelin can improve bone density, which is important in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Furthermore, due to their regulatory properties, they may find application in hormone therapies, where precise control of hormone levels is essential.

In the context of health-promoting supplementation, peptides may offer support for those suffering from endocrine disruption or as part of anti-aging therapies.

Alarelin – Mechanism of action

GnRH, or gonadoliberin, is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus. Its main function is to stimulate the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland to secrete gonadotropic hormones: LH (luteinising hormone) and FSH (folliculotropic hormone). These hormones in turn control the function of the gonads, i.e. the ovaries in women and the testes in men.

The peptide alarelin acts by binding to GnRH receptors in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. It is an agonist, meaning that it stimulates these receptors into action. However, unlike natural GnRH, the peptide is resistant to proteolytic enzymes, which prolongs its action in the body.

One of the main actions of the peptide is its ability to stimulate the secretion of FSH and LH from the pituitary gland. By mimicking the effects of GnRH, alarelin activates the production and release of these gonadotropins, thereby influencing the menstrual cycle and reproductive processes. Through its effects on FSH and LH secretion, it plays a key role in regulating gonadal function. In women, it can help induce ovulation and regulate menstrual cycles, making it a potential treatment option for infertility and menstrual disorders. In men, alarelin may in turn increase testosterone production and sperm development.

Use in the treatment of infertility

In women

The peptide alarelin is mainly used in the treatment of infertility associated with ovulation disorders. Due to its pituitary stimulating action, it can be used to induce ovulation in women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or other menstrual cycle disorders.

In men

In urology, alarelin peptide can be used to treat male infertility caused by testosterone deficiency. By stimulating the pituitary gland to produce LH, the testes are stimulated to secrete more testosterone, which can improve male fertility. In sport, it is used as part of PCT – that is, post-cycle therapy with anabolic agents to speed up the so-called, unblock.

Alarelin peptide – Summary

Alarelin peptide is a promising compound that can significantly improve fertility in both men and women. Its action is based on stimulation of the pituitary gland to produce gonadotropic hormones, leading to regulation of the menstrual cycle in women and increased testosterone production in men. Clinical studies to date suggest its efficacy and relatively low risk of side effects.
